These links help the reader, but they also show the search engines that your website is one cohesive unit and is not a content farm on millions of different subjects.
“Content farm” is actually becoming the dirty word of online marketing. No one wants to be considered a farm because these websites are taking big hits from the search engines right now. That is only going to get worse as we move into the future, but using links wisely and monitoring the quality of your content will keep you safe from the wrath of Google.
